About Dr Amelia Bracken
Dr Amelia Bracken’s journey into the field of psychological health began with a deep-seated curiosity about the intersection of narrative and neurology. After completing her PhD, which focused on the long-term impacts of relational trauma, she spent over a decade in clinical research and private practice refining a model of care that is as intellectually rigorous as it is emotionally attuned. Amelia’s academic background isn't merely a collection of titles; it is the foundation that allows her to offer a highly specialised, evidence-based sanctuary for her clients. She views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership, one where her expertise in the mechanics of the mind serves as a map to help clients navigate their own internal landscapes.

Beyond her clinical credentials, Amelia is driven by a profound passion for the concept of 'integration.' She recognises that many of her clients lead high-functioning, successful lives while privately carrying the weight of unfinished emotional history. By specialising in both Psychodynamic therapy and EMDR, she offers a unique bridge between the 'why' of our patterns and the 'how' of our healing. Her work is defined by a commitment to helping people reclaim their agency, moving beyond the management of symptoms to a place of true cognitive and emotional alignment. In the quiet, focused setting of her South Kensington practice, she remains dedicated to the slow, vital work of turning past burdens into the building blocks of a resilient future.
The Clinical Approach: Integration in Practice
Dr Bracken’s work is centered on the synergy between Psychodynamic exploration and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). While psychodynamic therapy provides the insight to understand why certain patterns persist, EMDR provides the neurological tools to actually shift them.

This dual-modality approach ensures that therapy is not just an intellectual exercise, but a physiological release. By addressing the root causes of distress at both a conscious and a neurobiological level, Amelia facilitates a process of deep, sustainable healing that allows the past to settle, making room for a more authentic and intentional present.

The Therapeutic Environment
The South Kensington practice is designed to be more than just a clinical office; it is a dedicated space for deep, uninterrupted psychological work. Located in a quiet mews, the setting reflects Amelia’s commitment to privacy, safety, and focused attention. In this environment, the frantic pace of professional life is left at the door, allowing for the slow, meticulous work of psychodynamic inquiry and the focused precision of EMDR to take place.

This fully wheelchair-accessible space features a beautifully appointed waiting area and private facilities, where clients are invited to ground themselves with complimentary refreshments before their session begins.
